About Onnai

We believe AI should fit into your workflow, not replace it.

The Unix philosophy got something right fifty years ago: small, composable tools that do one thing well. Text streams. Pipes. No lock-in. Your data stays yours.

Modern AI forgot all that. Chat windows. Browser tabs. Copy-paste. Walled gardens. Every model wants to be your new operating system.

Onnai takes a different approach. AI as a Unix citizen. Pipe in, pipe out. The same interface whether you're calling from the terminal, a script, or an API. Names instead of model versions. Files instead of cloud storage.

The Name

"Onnai" is an intentional misspelling of "on AI"—as in, working on AI problems. We liked that it sounds like a word but isn't quite. That felt right for what we're building.

The Team

We're a team of 'get it done' engineers who dislike context-switching between terminals and browser tabs. We built Onnai because we wanted it to exist.
